First videos from a Razia’s Shadow stage performance!

I don’t know who or what school put this on, but my dad came across them on YouTube. I am so impressed! Most people don’t realize how hard these songs are to sing (especially when you’re all alone on stage with just the music). Watching these gave me goosebumps! To see someone else put this on, in their best capacity, and sing their hearts out to the songs, is a very cool feeling. Adakias’ protrayer has a great voice; you guys should be very proud. I hope to see more videos soon!

“The Exit”

Alright, I got really distracted by the dancers in the background, being a dancer myself, that was rather atrocious. The singing, however, was impressive!

Wow Thomas, this must make you incredibly happy to see other people re-enacting what you’ve created. I’d love to see this done in film.

I’ve always loved seeing the musical vs. listening to one, I usually don’t buy a musical album unless it’s my favorite, because you just don’t capture it all. I think seeing Razia’s Shadow played out would blow me away.

This is good. The guy playing Adakias has an amazing voice. I want to put Razia’s on at my school. I’ve staged the entire musical in my mind and would love to see it come to life on stage. Thank you for combining my two favorite genres of music together on one album, Thomas. Great job. I can’t say it enough.

The Razia Videos are from Van Nuys High School. We were 5 director’s who broke things down. Vocal coach, choreography coach, and acting coaches. We had two months to put this up. I’m one of the directors & I’m really glad you enjoyed it!

  27. Mikel Bossette
    Posted July 31, 2009 at 9:49 am | Permalink

Why am I the last one to get on here? I’m another director.

First, Thomas Dutton, thank you for acknowledging us this way. It’s really great that you of all people are pleased with the interpretation of your work. Sadly, it’s my fault you havent seen the show fully. I have the whole thing on tape and I’ll try to get it edited and up for viewing.

I just want to reiterate that it was high school seniors that put this together with students from 9-12 grade actors. We had absolutely no teacher/counselor guidance. Even our lights and sound were handled by students. Thanks to them for that. It’s nice to hear positive comments. Thank you all so much for your support. I’d love to revive the whole show for you but we can’t get the space back.

Razia’s Shadow needs to be on Broadway. It needs to happen to revitalize Broadway. It’s such a simple story with such great music. The imagery that could be put into a big budget version of this show would be beautiful beyond compare.

Hey, there. :D I have a very, very special request.
I, too, would like to put on this musical on a stage but I don’t know who to call or email about the royalties and copyright situations, so I thought I’d stop here first. I’m an aspiring director and this would be my first play. Please help because I’m absolutely in love with Razia’s Shadow!

    Sincerely,
