I cannot agree with you more. What is your favorite song off of it so far? (or just ones that stick out)

oh man, first time I listened to it I hateddd it. I’m like “oh my god this sounds like a cheap cover bands version of beatles songs.” but now it’s grown on me, and northern downpour is love hahah.

the first song that really stuck out to me was ‘do you know what i’m seeing?’. man what a great chorus. slowly the gems are emerging all the over place now, though.

    goodbye blues > pretty. odd.
it sounds too weird to me. i really only like a handful of songs. however, northern downpour sounds so good, i wasn’t even expecting it.

i applaud them, they took a lot of chances with this record, and they appear to be breaking out of the scene music kind of into, well music.

Truthfully, I had expected it to be terrible, which is sad, considering Panic is probably one of my Top 10 favorite bands…but I was pleasantly surprised, their new direction is amazing! I was so happy that Spin magazine gave it 4 stars out of 4 :-D

Sitting in a noisy office tucked away in a corner cubical I streamed this on my crappy office computer speakers for three days straight. I couldn’t hear it very well but it was there all day each day. I found myself at home in the quiet evening hours with these songs in my head, a strange string of words or an unfamiliar melody and I’d think “what song is that?” then I’d realize, oh it’s new panic. I just carried these little fragments with me for a while, then I put it on my ipod and sat down with my head phones and really listened. It’s rich and woven and it just kind of washes over me. It makes me laugh too. It’s completely hilarious that the weather never gave a damn about Brendon and that he won’t cut his beard or change his hair “my hair, my hair” ha ha ha ha ha his hair. Pas De Cheval and Mad as Rabbits are my tops today.

Funny I should open this post right when I was putting on Pretty. Odd. It’s been in rotation with Goodbye Blues for a few days. I’m glad someone else thinks the record is genius. I couldn’t read anything about it because it made me so angry to see everyone bashing it. I love how people are probably only hating it because it’s Panic. Haha, to each their own I guess.

panic at the disco sucks. and i have a feeling you think the cd is better than it is only because panic and forgive durden are both on FBR

This Cd is awsome. My favorite is either northern downpoor or behind the sea, a also like the short little interludes. Sadly, they are probably gonna lose their teeny fanbase because it’s not AFYCSO and the 12 yr old girls just won’t get it. In my opinion, this CD may be one of the BEST of the last 5 yrs, there is not one bad song on that Cd, my only critism is the overuse of the word moon.

  16. Posted March 24, 2008 at 8:25 am | Permalink

It’s okay. I still like afysco better, but Pretty. Odd. definitely isn’t as bad as some people are making it out to be.
Also, addressing another comment, Goodbye Blues is in no way Better than Pretty. Odd.

I love how they’re bringing the 60′s back on the new record. Though, I’ve been listening to The Hush Sound’s new album Goodbye Blues far more than Panic at the Disco’s Pretty. Odd.

overall liked it though. good stuff.

OKay, I finally got to listen to it and all i have to say is:wow!! It was so good. i love every song and I love that they sound so different. They were great before but now it’s like they evolved into a better band. I loved it!! Northern Downpour is an amazing song!!

It reminds me of the Beatles. Like every song reminds me of a different “period” the Beatles went through. Its very creative and I like it
I was a bit nervous to hear Ryan Ross sing at first, but he is much better than expected. I love this record

Ooh, much respect for you voicing an honest opinion on this, most people are too busy squealing that they ripped off the beatles.
